Tooth 31: A failing filling in the very back molar was biomechanically restored, preserving its structural integrity without compromise.
Tooth 30: Presented with multiple areas of structural compromise, including thin walls, cusps, peripheral rim fractures, and deep fillings close to the nerve. The goal was to avoid the typical root canal and crown treatment.
Treatment Approach:
Preservation and Strengthening: The top 1.5 mm of tooth 30 was prepared for a porcelain biodome overlay restoration. This innovative approach not only strengthens the tooth but also converts splitting forces into compressive forces, preventing further damage.
Delicate Restoration: Careful removal of old filling material and cracks was conducted, with meticulous attention to avoid exposing the nerve. Caries indicating dye was used for visual feedback to preserve healthy tooth structure.
Structural Reinforcement: A polyethylene cross-weave fiber material embedded in super composite reinforced the tooth's floor before building it up for the porcelain overlay.
Precision and Comfort: The procedure, lasting approximately two hours, ensured the patient's comfort and avoided the need for a root canal and crown. Pain was minimal to non both during and after treatment.
Biomimetic Bonding: The porcelain overlay was treated for ideal biomimetic bonding, utilizing the finest materials and techniques to achieve seamless integration with the tooth.
